Ma Chenglin strikes me as a frail small aged man with goatee. His gray hair either hangs down loosely around  shoulders, or is tied up in a ponytail behind head. He likes drinking tea, alcohol, smoking a water pipe and playing clay. Like an old child, Ma has molded a ‘world’ with clay and decorated it with ethnic culture, bronze culture of Yunnan and traditional Chinese culture.

      印象中的马成林是一个瘦弱的小老头,留着一嘴山羊胡子，花白的头发或披散在肩胛处，或束成马尾翘在脑后。他喜欢饮茶，喜欢喝酒，喜欢抽水烟，最喜欢玩泥巴。像个老顽童一样，马成林用泥巴捏出了一个“世界”，并用民族文化、滇青铜文化和中国传统文化装点着这个“世界”。
