Tuen Mun District is one of the 18 administrative districts in Hong Kong and one of the largest residential areas in Hong Kong. Qingshan Bay in the south of Tuen Mun District was reclaimed in the 1970s and developed into a new town in Tuen Mun along with the surrounding coast. In the era of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907), the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD) had many Persians and Indians who went to Guangzhou to do business with China. At the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the British used this as a transshipment station for trafficking in opium to China.
