Jiang'an Profile: Jiang'an District is a city area under the jurisdiction of Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. On the northwestern shore of the Yangtze River, the east of Zhonghankou in the three towns of Wuhan, the Huangpi District in the northeast, the Jianghan District in the southwest, the Yangtze River in the southeast and the Wuchang District and the Hongshan District across the river, and the Dongxihu District in the north. The land of the whole district is 64.24 square kilometers, including 33.54 square kilometers in rural areas. 723,000 (2000); contains 16 streets and 1 township. 158 community neighborhood committees and 28 village committees. The Wuhan Municipal People's Government, the Municipal People's Congress, and the CPPCC are all located in the district; they are the political, economic, cultural, financial, and information centers of Wuhan. The ID number of the area is 420102. Jiang'an District has a subtropical humid monsoon climate with abundant rainfall and sufficient sunshine. The average annual rainfall is 1269 mm, mostly concentrated in June-August.
