Qi County Profile: Qi County, known as Chaoge, 沬 (mei), is the capital of the late Shang Dynasty in China, the capital of the largest vassal state of the Zhou Dynasty. It is the interpretation of the story of the gods, the historical and cultural city of the Central Plains, often seen in the Book of Songs. Lin surname, Wei surname, Kang surname, Yin surname, and Korean surnames such as Kang Shi and Qin Shi originated here and are important birthplaces of Chinese nationality surnames. Qi County is affiliated to Hebi City, located in the northern part of Henan Province. The Qihe River and Weihe River flow through it, with a total area of 567.43 square kilometers, a forest coverage rate of 21.7% and a total population of 269,100 (2011). It is 480 kilometers north of the capital Beijing and 95 kilometers south of the provincial capital Zhengzhou. The Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway, the Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway, and the 107 National Highway run through the whole country, the National West-East Gas Pipeline Project and the South-to-North Water Transfer Project.
