Introduction to the Republic: Gonghe County is one of the five counties of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province. It is a county with more Qinghai Tibetan areas, a vast territory and a large proportion of animal husbandry economy. It is in an important position in the economic and social development of Qinghai Tibetan areas. In the northeast of Qinghai Province, it is the eastern gateway of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is known as the “Qinghai-Tibet Throat”. It is bordered by Qinghai Lake in the north, the “Mother River” in the south, and the Yellow River in the south. It is bounded by the Riyue Mountain and the eastern agricultural area in the east. Adjacent to Qinghai Tibetan Area in Qinghai. Gonghe County has jurisdiction over 11 townships, 99 villages, 14 community neighborhood committees, 17,300 square kilometers, and 134,000 people as of 2012. There are 22 ethnic minorities such as Tibetan, Han, Hui, Salar and Mongolian, and a few of them. The ethnic group accounts for 70% of the county. There are 18,761,600 mu of grassland and 457,600 mu of cultivated land. The county has an average elevation of 3,200 meters. Gongbu County and the provincial government resident Chabcha Town is the political, economic and cultural center of the whole state. The 109 National Highway of Qinghai-Tibet Highway and the 214 National Highway of Qingkang Highway pass through the border. The county resident Chabcha Town is 142 kilometers away from Xining, the provincial capital. Gonghe County has seven advantageous resources such as agriculture, animal husbandry resources, mineral resources, water resources, geothermal resources, tourism resources, animal and plant resources, and wind and light resources.
