Hualong Introduction: Hualong Hui Autonomous County is in the transition zone between the Loess Plateau and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in eastern Qinghai Province and the southern part of Haidong Region. It is a multi-ethnic county with Hui people as its mainstay. There are 12 ethnic groups including Hui, Han, Tibetan and Salar. The county people's government is located in Bayan Town, 75 kilometers away from the government resident. Linping Highway, Lehua Highway, Asai Highway, Zaha Highway, Ping'a Expressway and Yanguan Highway run through the county. Hualong Hui Autonomous County is 2,740 square kilometers. There are 3 towns and 18 townships, with 229,669 people as of 2010. In the mountainous and gully valleys on the north side of the Yellow River valley, the terrain slopes from the northwest to the southeast. The Yellow River passes through the southwest and south of the county. It belongs to the arid zone in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The annual average temperature is 2.2 °C and the annual precipitation is 470 mm.
