Quzhou is a city (prefecture level) under the jurisdiction of Hainan Province. It is located in the northwestern part of Hainan, bordering the Beibu Gulf, north to the provincial capital Haikou City, more than 130 kilometers, south of Sanya City, more than 280 kilometers; jurisdiction over 16 towns, 275 Village (residential) committee and 1431 natural villages; the land area is 3,394 square kilometers, accounting for about 1/10 of the province; the total registered population is 945,400 (2016); the coastline is 267 kilometers long.
Cangzhou City is the economic, transportation, communication and cultural center of western Hainan. Hainan Yangpu Economic Development Zone and China Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and Hainan University Cangzhou Campus (formerly South China Tropical Agriculture University) are in its territory. Quzhou City has won the "National Top 100 Agricultural Cities", "National Health City", "National Civilization Demonstration City", "National Garden City", "National Urban Environment Comprehensive Improvement Excellent City", "China Excellent Tourism City", " 2012 netizens favorite China's top ten cultural tourism cities, etc.
In December 2016, Ganzhou City was listed as the third batch of national new urbanization comprehensive pilot areas. In October 2017, Zhangzhou City was named the National Garden City by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. In 2017, Ganzhou City achieved a regional production value of 28.804 billion yuan.
