Introduction to Shanyang: Shanyang District was originally one of the downtown areas of Jiaozuo, Henan Province. It borders Taihang Mountain with Shanxi in the north and the Yellow River in the south. It faces Zhengzhou and Luoyang across the river. Named after the establishment of Shanyang City in the early Warring States Period, it is the location of Gushan Yangcheng. Shanyang District is the political, economic, financial and cultural center of Jiaozuo City. Shanyang District was originally a suburb of Jiaozuo City. In 1988, the district was adjusted to become an urban area. In December 1990, it was approved by the State Council and renamed Shanyang District. Within the jurisdiction, the main party and government organs, state-owned large and medium-sized enterprises, financial institutions, news organizations and cultural activities venues in Jiaozuo City are concentrated.
