Datong Introduction: Datong City is the second largest city in Shanxi Province. It is located in the center of Datong Basin in the north of Shanxi Province and on the northeastern edge of the Loess Plateau. It is known as the “City of Sculpture in China”, “Phoenix City” and “China Coal Capital”. Datong Tourism: Datong City has a history of more than 2,400 years. It is one of the 24 historical and cultural cities in the country. There are more than 300 ancient buildings and ancient sites in the territory. Among them, the Northern Wei culture represented by Yungang Grottoes and the Northern Weihang Temple is Huayan Temple. The Liao and Jin cultures represented by Shanhua Temple, Guanyintang, Jueshan Temple Tower and Yuanjue Temple Tower are characterized by Ming and Qing culture represented by the Great Wall, Bingbao, Longbi and Datong Fucheng in the Ming Dynasty. In addition, the Datong volcanic group and the Beiyue Hengshan, known as the “Second Mountain of Saibei”, are famous natural landscapes.
